The anticipation was building as we waited for the Federal Reserve to join again at their next scheduled meeting on January 30th, 2008. The market was excpecting another rate cut up to .50%. The wait is no longer.

The shakeout of the sub prime market in the US is taking longer than what was initially anticipated. Since late 2006 214 major US lending operations have ceased doing business.

Since 1969 Countrywide (NYSE: CFC) has been funding home loans in the United States and made homeownership possible for about 20 Million borrowers. Almost 40 years later, Countrywide is being purchase by Bank of America (NYSE: BAC) to the tune of $4 Billion.
